The process measures the AC Current RMS Noise typically on a DC current signal sourced by a device under test.
Values are tested in RMS because the shape of the signal and or noise is unknown. The measurement hardware is typically placed in an AC Coupling mode to block any DC current from affecting the RMS measurement.
